Saturday Night Television
After a long Saturday of activities, my parents would allow me to stay up late to catch some of the evening shows. Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century were two of my favorites to watch. 📺
My go-to snack while I watched my shows? Cracker Jacks! 😋
A favorite past time during my childhood...roller skating at the local skate rink!
There were some awesome songs to skate to back in the day, but the ultimate song to skate to had to be Janet Jackson's "Control"! 😎🎵
Bonus if I had speed skates. I'd tear through all the other skaters during that song! 😅
One of the most memorable summer moments of my childhood...when my sister and I rode the "Scrambler" ride for the first time. The fair had a sound system playing Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" which was so new we hadn't heard it until then. The drums in that song only made the moment even more epic! 🎵🥁😎
Summer days with my best friend...when the weather didn't cooperate, we'd just move things inside. 🌧
One of my biggest fears as a child...the deep end of the pool! No matter what my swim instructors tried, I would not jump into the deep end! 😨
Growing up I had genuine anxiety when the family would go away on vacation. I loved my home, my toys, hanging out with my friends...to just leave all that behind was difficult, even if it was just for a few days. 🚗🧳
I absolutely loved riding my bike around the neighborhood. Probably a bit reckless by today's standards, pedaling as fast as I could, leaning into turns, and jumping curbs...all without a helmet, elbow pads, or knee pads!
I don't think I ever hurt my head while riding my bike, but pads could have saved me from a couple cases of road rash 😅
During the summer, my best friend and I were inseparable! From sun up to sun down you'd see us running around the neighborhood. 🏃♂️
