As a child, it was always bittersweet to see the last remnants of snow melting away.⛄❄🙁

With the freezing temperatures, you have to be careful venturing outside! 🥶

I often had trouble with the lock on my school locker...that is, until someone taught me how to rig the latch with the eraser off a No. 2 pencil. After the trick, the locker would latch shut, but not lock. It cut down on the time it took to get in and out of my locker between classes. 😉

True Story! One year the youth group took us ice skating. It was my first time on the ice. I grabbed a pair of skate boots, and ventured out on the ice.

I ended up spending more time lying on the ice than skating! 😅

A girl in the youth group (who wasn't that much better at skating) even made fun of how much I was falling, so after only a couple laps hugging the wall, I called it quits and walked off the ice.

I sat down on a bench, preparing to turn in my skate boots, and just watch people from the sidelines. As I was untying my boot laces, a manager of the rink walked by, took one look at my boots, and without stopping, pointed, said, "Those boots are too big! Go get a smaller size!", and continued on his way.

I thought to myself, "what have I got to lose?", and decided to trade in my boots for a smaller pair. I took to the ice...and never fell again!

The girl who made fun of me didn't say anything to me the rest of the evening...maybe because I suddenly became a better skater than her. 😉

One of the torturous things as a child is when you receive a Christmas gift designed for the warmer seasons, and you have to wait to try it out.

I remember getting so antsy to try out my new skateboard one year, I couldn't stand it anymore and took it out one winter afternoon. It ended up being one of my more challenging skateboard sessions because the wheels kept getting stopped by the salt and grit left on the street after the last snowfall. 😅🛹❄

The house I grew up in tended to be perpetually cold during the winter.

We had one space heater in the house, and it quickly became quite the hot spot throughout the season 😉
