It always felt like cruel and unusual punishment when as soon you walked into school, still half asleep, you find yourself facing a pop quiz! 😴✏️📃

The Weekend

After my first week back to school, I welcomed the weekend to recharge! 😮‍💨

Bonus if our parents allowed us to rent a tape for our VCR, and we could spend much of the weekend vegging out in front of the TV. 📺

Homework

It was frustrating to walk home with your friend, loaded to the max with homework, only to notice your buddy is walking home without a single piece of paper to work on 😅📚🎒

Saved by the Bell

When the bell rang at the end of the day, I couldn't escape school fast enough! 😅📚

 

Good Morning

Yes, the first week back at school was often a struggle for me. 😴🎒

School Supplies

Back to School Shopping! 🛍

I remember some teachers had a pretty lengthy list of school supplies they required each child to bring with them on the first day of school...some items I'm not sure I ended up using! 😅📓✏️

Carnival

It's carnival season! 🎡🎪🎠

My sister and I typically went into sensory overload when we saw all the rides, games, and food vendors at the carnival. 🤯

Camp

It's that time of year...time for schools to have their football camps!

Me? Well, I didn't play football...I played drums in the school band! When the football team had their camp, we had our own. It was a week of marching around the field, from one poker chip (what we used to mark our positions on the field) to another. 😅🥁

 

Movies

The summer always meant the big blockbuster movies were hitting theaters. We'd make an effort to see all the major (kid friendly) movies at the local theater before the new school year started up. 😎🎬🎥

A Mall Encounter

With local malls dwindling away, children today will never understand how special it was to see another classmate at the mall during summer vacation. 😎🛍
