Practice Sketch 210622

How do you get a child to eat something they may not want to?

Back in the 80's, Red Lobster served fried calamari rings as an appetizer - one of those "not on the menu" items. When they were served, they looked just like onion rings, and they were served with a purple sweet and sour dipping sauce.

One day at Red Lobster, our parents ordered a basket of fried calamari rings. My sister and I were hungry, but had no idea what "calamari" even was. "Just try one," our parents said when we asked. Eventually, we decided to try one. We both liked them! It wasn't until we were eating our second one when our parents told us what we were eating. By then, neither of us were bothered by what it was.

And it was that sweet and sour sauce that really made them taste good! When Red Lobster eventually added them to the menu, they switched to a marinara sauce, which just wasn't the same! 😋
